We closed our 6-week run of Girl From The North Country at Actor’s Express. 

What an honor and a joy to work with such an incredibly talented, kind, supportive cast and crew. We were more than an ensemble, we were a family. And what a privilege to share this haunting, raw, powerful story with Atlanta audiences for the first time in the perfectly intimate and immersive space of Actor’s Express, directed masterfully by Freddie Ashley, with joyful choreography by Kari Twyman Walker and pitch-perfect musical direction by Alli Reinhardt. 

Singing these gorgeous arrangements of Bob Dylan’s music with this angelic chorus of voices and our amazing band was a gift every night. And I learned how to play the drums! I am forever grateful to everyone for cheering me on while I worked to master this new skill.

The role of Mrs. Burke challenged me in the best way. A dutiful wife and devoted mother with an adult special-needs child, she self-medicates with morphine and alcohol to numb the pain of an inattentive husband and the loss of the comfortable and privileged life she once knew. But she is still seeking joy wherever she can find it, and like all of us, she desperately wants to be seen, loved, and appreciated. After suffering the most unimaginable loss for any parent, she somehow finds the strength to press on.

Each of the characters in this show are so beautifully written, and I could write pages praising the unique and stellar talents of every single company member who embodied them.

Thank you to everyone who came out to see us and support live theater. This one is going to stay with me forever.
